About

Jason M. Milam

The most satisfying part of Jason's job is fighting for people who are faced with the toughest situation of their lives. Jason gets to learn their story and present it from a viewpoint that the law doesn't usually see – his client's. Whether defending someone from false accusations or fighting for the best interest of children, practicing trial law allows Jason to show prosecutors, judges, and juries a different perspective: that his client is a human being who deserves the full protection of the law, not just a name and number.

Experience

Born in the Texas Panhandle, Jason grew up in San Antonio and graduated from Ronald Reagan High School summa cum laude before moving to Waco to attend Baylor University in 2005. After graduating from Baylor University, Jason was offered a full-tuition scholarship to study at Baylor Law School. At Baylor Law, Jason focused his studies on criminal law, completing the school's Criminal Law concentration.

Since beginning practice in 2013, Jason has represented hundreds of Central Texans in criminal, DWI, divorce, custody, and personal injury matters. Since 2016, Jason has served as the President of the McLennan County Defense Lawyers Association. In that capacity, Jason has championed criminal justice causes in McLennan County and in the Texas State Legislature. Jason also serves on the Board of Directors for the McLennan County Young Lawyers Association.

In 2019, Jason was selected as the McLennan County Outstanding Young Lawyer of the Year and was nominated for the Texas Outstanding Young Lawyer of the Year. Jason has been recognized by Thomson Reuters for Super Lawyers as a Rising Star in 2019 and 2020.

In October 2014, Jason married his college sweetheart and fellow attorney, Amanda. Together they have renovated a historic Waco home near downtown where they live with their daughters, Evelyn and Joyce, and their four rescue animals—Winston, Franklin, Eleanor, and Sebastian. Away from the practice of law, Jason also supports the animal rescue mission of the largest no-kill animal shelter in Central Texas, Fuzzy Friends Rescue, as a member of the Board of Directors since 2016.
